If you’re looking for a new, rewarding career, keep reading to learn more about how Travel Agent Campus can help you become a travel agent!
What is a travel agent/advisor, and what do they do?
Travel agents are individuals who have completed specialized training that prepares them to plan, book, and manage travel experiences for other people.
Is a travel agent the same role as a travel advisor, travel planner, travel counselor, and a travel consultant?
Yes, they are all the same. The American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) announced in 2019 that the industry should use the title "Travel Advisor" moving forward, though “travel agent” is still popular and widely used.
How does Travel Agent Campus help me become a travel agent?
We are the training portion of the travel industry. You will need professional travel industry training and certification to get started. Most travel agencies or companies will not work with you unless you have been professionally trained and certified. You will need the proper accreditation and credentials from ARC, IATA, and CLIA in order to sell travel. Travel Agent Campus will set you up with a host/support travel agency through which you may conduct your travel business. Our host travel agency, Travel Planners International (TPI), has the accreditation and credentials you will need. TPI has been in business for more than 30 years and was voted the number-one host agency by ASTA.

How long does it take to complete the travel agent training/certification?
Most individuals finish their training within 3 to 10 days. There are courses that can be finished in 3 to 5 days. Certifications can be completed within 7 to 10 days. You have up to 90 days after enrollment to complete your entire training, if needed.
Why choose a certification over taking the basic travel agent/advisor course?
If you are expanding your travel knowledge as a hobby and want to book travel for just family and friends, then taking the basic travel agent/advisor course is fine. However, if you want to become a professional travel agent or luxury travel advisor who can sell to the public, then it is highly advisable to obtain one or more of the certifications we offer. The certifications provide more in-depth training and credentials that help you earn credibility in the industry and with clients. You will receive professional designations that you can put on your business cards and email footer. Certification is crucial if you want to start your own full-fledged travel agency. It is documented in the industry that certified travel professionals earn more income and receive greater client trust.

Some agents are very serious and dedicated to maximizing their income. Those are the agents making $100,000 and above.
Don't forget to add in the travel benefits! Those travel benefits are worth a lot of money that is not calculated in the total wages. According to a BLS report released in 2018, percentile wage estimates for this occupation are: 10% at $22,370; 25% at $28,730; 50% at $38,700; 75% at $51,950; 90% at $66,080.
